TVB was supposed to be broadcast live on November 19 at 8:30 PM. However, the company issued a statement today stating they are canceling the live broadcast this year. Besides that, TVB changes name for 52nd anniversary gala show for current Hong Kong situation.
The statement reads, “Due to protests taking place in several districts, there are multiple road blocks and the traffic lights in the Tseung Kwan O area have been damaged. The traffic conditions tonight will be hard to predict. In consideration of all guests’ safety, it has been decided to cancel tonight’s arrangement for guests to be present at the live broadcast for the anniversary show. We express our apologies for this. Our anniversary show will still air tonight at 8:30 as scheduled.”
无线电视（TVB )台庆，当以为会一如以往，于晚上现场直播大型综艺节目《万千星辉贺台庆》的时候，周一晚（11/11）有观众留意到节目宣传短片有所不同，指无线沿用多年的台庆节目《万千星辉贺台庆》因应社会环境情况改名为《珍惜香港 发放娱乐 TVB 52年》。
至于改名的真正目的是什么？是否因为“反修例运动”持续，社会气氛紧张才有此决定？2020年的台庆会否重新使用旧名？无线制作部回应表示：无线电视是一间与香港人一起成长的电视台，同喜同悲，希望透过《珍惜香港 发放娱乐》这个节目为香港人注入正能量，为香港打气。
“今日，香港社会正面对矛盾与困惑，在今年TVB生日的这个日子，我们觉得最合适的主题就是‘珍惜香港’，至于‘发放娱乐’，就是TVB的天职。愿大家一同携手，珍惜我们的香港，愿香港变回一个开心温暖的地方。”
